Taj Lake Palace Udaipur

Taj Lake Palace Udaipur

Udaipur, India

Originally built by a Maharana of Udaipur in the 18th century, the stunningly restored Taj Lake Palace floats on Lake Pichola’s waters. Made famous when Octopussy was filmed there, today it remains eminently glamorous – think grand rooms decorated in rich colours, Indian fabrics and ornamental woodwork.

As part of the Taj group, exceptionally high standards in service, cuisine and amenities are a given. Add in opulent suites, a world-class spa and breathtaking views of the City Palace, Aravalli and Machla Magra Hills and you have the ingredients for an unforgettable royal retreat in India.

Outstanding facilities are part of the Taj Lake Palace experience. Round the clock butler service is standard with your suite, there is an on-tap water taxi to chauffeur you to the city pier, and a wide range of aromatherapies, beauty and spa treatments can be enjoyed on the unique spa boat.

Known as the Venice of the East, Taj Lake Palace is at the heart of the historic city of Udaipur. To help you see the best of the city during your stay, the hotel concierge is happy to plan a special tour in one of the hotel’s vintage cars, as well as boat rides across the lake and heritage walks.

No less than a royal welcome awaits at the Taj Lake Palace; expect a shower of rose petals, a platter of refreshments and guards to escort you under a sequined, embroidered umbrella as you step off the boat at Sadar Ghat.

Shambhu Prakash Suite

Suitably named after a Maharana, this presidential suite is fit for any king or queen, with impressive furniture in opulent colours and high curved arches. Just some of its crowning features are a library stocked with curated literary works, an adjoining balcony with sunset views, and a full-size bathtub with Forest Essential amenities.

Grand Royal Suites

Yet another princely accommodation option, these suites are part of the palaces original design. Extensive, opulent and extremely welcoming, you can relax in absolute style in luxury, whether on the attached terrace, in the five-star bathroom, or the grand living and sleeping spaces. The suites look towards the Aravallis – the world’s oldest fold of mountains.
